John Mellencamp hit the music scene with a force in the mid-1976, but catapulted right to stardom in the early 1980s with a string of chart-topping hits, including Hurts So Good, Crumblin’ Down, Jack & Diane, Pink Houses, Lonely Ol’Night, Small Town, R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A., Cherry Bomb, and Paper In Fire. The powerhouse performer with the signature raspy voice took the world by storm, holding the record as the solo artist with the most number one songs on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. To date, he has won a Grammy Award alongside twelve nominations, a Classic Songwriter Award from Q Awards, a Woody Guthrie Prize, an ASCAP Founders Award, an Americana Lifetime Achievement Award, and the John Steinbeck Award, among others, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.
